Investigation Activity Book published by the Cuyahoga County
Solid Waste District.
- The workshop is to Cuyahoga County Educators and
includes a tour of the farm and Rosby's recycling efforts.
- The activities are observations and experiments to teach students
about the process of composting.
- Activities address several Earth, Physical, Life, Science Ways of
Knowing, Science and Technology and Scientific Inquiry indicators
and social studies indicators.
- The workshop will be 0.4 CEUs and provide teachers with the
activity book, a CSI kit and certificate of completion.

Think Your School Has What It Takes To Be a WILD School Site?
A WILD School Site workshop for all educators will be held on April 7th
at the Dawes Arboretum in Newark, Ohio. Attendees will learn how they
can improve wildlife habitat at their school or facility AND use it in
their everyday curriculum! Educators will also receive educational
materials, fun activity ideas and tips, hands-on experience, and be able
to facilitate their own WILD School Site workshops! Grants are
available from the Division of Wildlife for beginning a site at your

A TEACHER INSTITUTE FOCUSING ON THE USE OF GPS AND
GIS TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CLASSROOM
June 20-24, 2005, New Albany, Ohio Are you looking for ways to integrate
real-world data into your curriculum? Do you want to engage your
students in authentic applications of technology that support your
current curriculum standards? Do you want to investigate natural
hazards, climate, land use change, population, watersheds, and
biodiversity? At GeoTech Ohio you will learn how Global Positioning
Systems (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies can
bring the world into your classroom. This institute, designed by
teachers for teachers, will help participants apply and integrate GIS
and GPS technology in their middle school and high school classrooms.
Sponsored by: Ashland University College of Education, New Albany-Plain
Local School District. The institute is conducted in cooperation with
the USGS. Institute cost: $285, includes instruction, most breakfasts
and lunches, and a copy of Mapping Our World. The book includes a
one-year site license of the GIS software we will be using, data, and
ready-to-use lessons for the classroom. Participants can also
receive two semester hours of graduate credit from Ashland University
