Enrich student learning about our environment. She can talk about trashy topics
such as garbage, landfills, waste reduction, recycling, composting, litter
prevention, plastics, etc. Classroom presentations are designed for specific
grade levels and are intended to enhance the schools.

Earth Day Activities
Our Earth Day Activities section contains information, lessons and ideas to help
teachers and students celebrate Earth Day and to learn about their
environment. Earth Day is celebrated by schools, communities and
organizations honoring the first Earth Day in April of 1970. Please contact
Kathleen Rocco at 216-443-3731
if you would like a speaker for your Earth Day celebration.
Every day should be Earth Day!
Contests
Throughout the year, the District will sponsor contests for classrooms as well as
students. If you are interested in having your classroom participate, please sign up
for our mailing list or call
Kathleen at 216-443-3731.
Day Camp/Youth Groups
Our education specialist can come to your site and conduct hands-on activities
on recycling, composting and many other environmental activities. Challenge
your campers and participants to a no garbage lunch and have them collect
trash and recycling items to make crafts and other useful gifts. See our
Summer Programs Announcemnet for more information.
Trash Talk
Trash Talk is a 4-color newsletter written specifically for 4th,
5th and 6th graders. The four issues during the school
year will focus on different environmental topics, including recycling, yard
waste reduction, source reduction and litter prevention.
On an ongoing basis, The District takes requests for
subscriptions from Cuyahoga County schools only. These newsletters are available at no
cost, but are on a first come first serve basis.
