This section is for pre-service teachers, teachers, scout leaders and educators or leaders of youth organizations that are interested in starting a recycling program and/or teaching recycling education.

Classroom Presentation
The District’s Education Specialist can come into your classroom to teach about the environment. Presentations are designed to meet science indicators and may also integrate social studies, mathematics and language arts.

Educator Workshops
Hands-on interdisciplinary workshops are available for K-12 teachers. Most workshops are held at no cost to the teacher.

School Recycling Mini-Grant Program
The grant program is designed to assist Cuyahoga County schools with funding student-centered school recycling projects.

Earth Day Activities and Projects
This section contains information, lessons, ideas and project to help teachers and students celebrate Earth Day and to learn about their environment.

Contests and Special Programs
Throughout the year, the District sponsors contests for students to encourage environmental stewardship through creative writing, art or hands-on recycling projects.

Scouts
Recycling is one way that scouts can make the earth a better place to live. Girl Scout and Boy Scout programs contain projects or badges that relate to taking care of the environment.

Raise Recycling Rate: A Paper Recycling Pilot Program
The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District is interested in working with a school on strategies to increase paper recycling in their Abitibi Paper Retriever bin. This will be a joint project between the school and the Solid Waste District.
